Wojcikami Family at Art Omi

Picture this…. it’s a beautiful Sunday morning in October. You are running around a sculpture park with your kids as a photographer follows you around with her camera. No posed and polished family photos here. Instead of forcing your children to be still and smile for a stranger, your kids are encouraged to explore, play, and laugh. You’re focused on enjoying family, the photographer is focused on capturing the love and connection.

The Wojcikami family has a special place in my heart. They were the first people to invite my husband and I over for dinner once we moved to Saratoga Springs. The boys had so much fun showing us around their beautiful (screen free, book filled) home and debating which Avatar character is the best.

When I proposed a family photoshoot, they were a bit hesitant because they didn’t want a copy+paste family fall photoshoot (you know with the pumpkin patch, boots, flannels, etc….) We landed on Art Omi as the perfect location because it would allow the boys to run around and be free as I snapped my photos. Art Omi, just an hour drive south from Saratoga Springs, is a beautiful art exhibit with an outdoor, interactive sculpture park woven between wide open grassy fields and forested woods. This was the perfect backdrop to allow these kids to just be kids as I snapped as many candid photos as I can. Of course, I would instruct the family “look over here!” or “give your mom a hug!”, but other than that, this hardly felt like a photoshoot. It felt like a family outing just spending time together at the coolest art exhibit. Did I mention it’s free to attend?

Thank you to the Wojcikami family for welcoming us to Saratoga Springs and Skidmore. Looking forward to more family meals and photoshoots together!
